APLP1

Description

The APLP1 gene (Amyloid Precursor-Like Protein 1) encodes a protein that shares significant similarities with amyloid precursor protein (APP), the protein associated with Alzheimer‘s disease. APLP1 plays a role in neuronal growth and development, and its interaction with APP may influence the production of amyloid-beta (Aβ) peptides, a hallmark of Alzheimer‘s disease. However, the precise role of APLP1 in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer‘s is not fully understood.
