ANKRD9

Description

The ANKRD9 (ankyrin repeat domain 9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

ANKRD9 is a substrate receptor subunit of a cullin-RING superfamily E3 ligase complex (CUL5-based E3 ubiquitin ligase complex) that regulates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins. Depending on the metabolic state of the cell, ANKRD9 can either promote the proteasomal degradation of IMPDH2, the rate-limiting enzyme in GTP biosynthesis, or protect IMPDH2 by stabilizing its filament assembly. ANKRD9 is involved in various cellular processes, including copper homeostasis and cell proliferation.
