The ANKRD24 (ankyrin repeat domain 24) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
ANKRD24 is a protein in humans encoded by the ANKRD24 gene, also known as KIAA1981. The protein's function in humans is currently unknown. ANKRD24 belongs to the protein family containing ankyrin-repeat domains. The gene is located on chromosome 19 at p13.3 on the forward strand. It spans 4041 base pairs and contains 29 exons. ANKRD24 is located near the SIRT6 gene (encoding Sirtuin-6 protein) and the EBI3 gene (encoding Epstein-Barr virus induced gene 3 protein). The expression pattern of ANKRD24 is uncharacterized, but its levels increase under conditions of cell growth and proliferation. Expression is elevated in germ line tumors, glioma, and prostate cancer compared to other disease states.
