ANKRD16

Description

The ANKRD16 (ankyrin repeat domain 16) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

ANKRD16 is crucial for maintaining translational accuracy by preventing the incorrect activation of serine (Ser) with tRNA(Ala). It achieves this by promoting the breakdown of mischarged Ser-tRNA(Ala) and directly interacting with the catalytic domain of AARS/AlaRS. This interaction allows ANKRD16 to capture misactivated Ser, preventing it from being attached to tRNA(Ala) and subsequently incorporated into nascent peptides.

ANKRD16 is also known as -.
