ANGPTL1

Description

The ANGPTL1 (angiopoietin like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

ANGPTL1, or Angiopoietin-3, is a protein encoded by the ANGPTL1 gene in humans. It is a member of the angiopoietin family, which are growth factors specific for vascular endothelium and play a role in blood vessel formation. While other angiopoietins like Angiopoietin-1, Angiopoietin-2, and Angiopoietin-4 participate in blood vessel formation, ANGPTL1 is a secretory protein that does not act as an endothelial cell mitogen in vitro. ANGPTL1 is expressed widely in adult tissues, with the highest mRNA levels found in highly vascularized tissues.

ANGPTL1 is also known as ANG3, ANGPT3, ARP1, AngY, UNQ162, dJ595C2.2.
