ANGPT4

Description

The ANGPT4 (angiopoietin 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

Angiopoietin-4 is a protein produced in humans, encoded by the ANGPT4 gene. Angiopoietins are a family of proteins crucial for vascular development and angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels). They all bind to a specific receptor on endothelial cells called tyrosine-protein kinase receptor. Angiopoietin-4's role in angiogenesis is thought to involve regulating how endothelial cells interact with the cells surrounding blood vessels. It acts as an agonist, meaning it activates the receptor, and is classified as an angiopoietin.

ANGPT4 is also known as ANG3, ANG4.
