ANAPC13
Description
The ANAPC13 (anaphase promoting complex subunit 13) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.
ANAPC13 is a component of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), a crucial enzyme complex that regulates cell division. APC/C is an E3 ubiquitin ligase, meaning it attaches ubiquitin tags to target proteins, marking them for degradation. This process is essential for controlling the progression through mitosis and the G1 phase of the cell cycle. APC/C primarily facilitates the formation of 'Lys-11'-linked polyubiquitin chains, but also contributes to the formation of 'Lys-48' and 'Lys-63' chains, ultimately leading to the breakdown of target proteins.
ANAPC13 is also known as APC13, SWM1.
