ALPK2

Description

The ALPK2 (alpha kinase 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.

ALPK2 is a protein kinase that specifically targets phosphorylation sites within peptides exhibiting an alpha-helical conformation. This function is based on its ability to recognize these specific structural features. Furthermore, ALPK2 plays a crucial role in regulating cardiac development and cardiomyocyte differentiation by acting as a negative regulator of the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. These functions are supported by experimental evidence (PubMed:29888752, PubMed:10021370).

ALPK2 is also known as HAK.
