AK5

Description

The AK5 (adenylate kinase 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

AK5 is a human gene that encodes for the enzyme adenylate kinase isoenzyme 5. This enzyme is a nucleoside monophosphate (NMP) kinase that plays a role in cellular energy metabolism by catalyzing the reversible transfer of the terminal phosphate group between nucleoside triphosphates and monophosphates.

AK5 is also known as AK6.
