AK4

Description

The AK4 gene, also known as A-kinase anchoring protein 4, plays a crucial role in regulating cell division. It acts as a scaffold protein, bringing together various proteins involved in the signaling pathways that control cell growth and proliferation. AK4 is particularly important in the regulation of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) signaling pathway. Dysregulation of AK4 expression or function can disrupt these pathways, contributing to the development of various diseases, especially cancers.

Mutations in the AK4 gene have been linked to a rare genetic disorder called Noonan syndrome, which affects physical development and intellectual ability.
