WASHC4

Description

The WASHC4 gene provides instructions for making a protein called WASH complex subunit 4. This protein is a component of the WASH complex, which plays a crucial role in regulating the movement and organization of cellular structures called endosomes. Endosomes are responsible for transporting materials within cells and recycling components of the cell membrane. The WASH complex specifically targets endosomes to facilitate their movement along microtubule tracks, essential for proper cellular function and communication. Mutations in the WASHC4 gene can disrupt the normal function of the WASH complex, leading to various cellular defects and potentially contributing to the development of certain diseases.
