UGP2

Description

The UGP2 (UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

UTP--glucose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase (UGP2) catalyzes the conversion of glucose-1-phosphate into UDP-glucose, a crucial precursor for glycogen production. This enzymatic activity is supported by multiple studies (PubMed:31820119, PubMed:8354390, PubMed:8631325).

UGP2 is also known as DEE83, EIEE83, SVUGP2, UDPG, UDPGP, UDPGP2, UGP1, UGPP1, UGPP2, pHC379.
