TOGARAM1

Description

The TOGARAM1 (TOG array regulator of axonemal microtubules 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

TOGARAM1 plays a crucial role in ciliogenesis, ensuring proper acetylation and polyglutamylation of ciliary microtubules, which is essential for regulating cilium length. TOGARAM1 interacts with microtubules and promotes their polymerization through its HEAT repeat domains, particularly those in regions 2 and 4. This interaction is supported by evidence from UniProtKB and PubMed.

TOGARAM1 is also known as FAM179B, JBTS37, KIAA0423.
