TMIE

Description

The TMIE (transmembrane inner ear) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

The specific function of TMIE is currently unknown. It may be involved in cellular membrane processes, potentially residing within internal membranes and participating in protein or vesicle trafficking. Another possibility is that the mature protein is located in the plasma membrane, serving as a binding site for other molecules through its highly charged C-terminal region.

TMIE is also known as DFNB6.
