TARS1

Description

The TARS1 (threonyl-tRNA synthetase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

TARS1 catalyzes the attachment of threonine to tRNA(Thr) in a two-step process. First, threonine is activated by ATP to form Thr-AMP. Then, Thr-AMP is transferred to the acceptor end of tRNA(Thr). TARS1 also has an editing domain that corrects incorrectly charged tRNA(Thr) after the transfer step.

TARS1 is also known as TARS, TTD7, ThrRS.
