TALDO1

Description

The TALDO1 (transaldolase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

TALDO1 catalyzes the rate-limiting step of the non-oxidative phase in the pentose phosphate pathway. It facilitates the reversible conversion of sedheptulose-7-phosphate and D-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate into erythrose-4-phosphate and beta-D-fructose 6-phosphate. In addition to its role in the pentose phosphate pathway, TALDO1 can influence other metabolic pathways by changing its location between the nucleus and the cytoplasm.

TALDO1 is also known as TAL, TAL-H, TALDOR, TALH.
