SVBP

Description

The SVBP (small vasohibin binding protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

SVBP enhances the tyrosine carboxypeptidase activity of VASH1 and VASH2, leading to the removal of the C-terminal tyrosine residue from alpha-tubulin. This activity is crucial for spindle function and accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis, as microtubule detyronisation regulates mitotic spindle length and positioning. SVBP also increases the solubility and secretion of VASH1 and VASH2. It plays a role in axon and excitatory synapse formation.

SVBP is also known as CCDC23, NEDAHM.
