SPINK2

Description

The SPINK2 gene provides instructions for making a protein called SPINK2, also known as leuko-kininase. This protein plays a vital role in regulating inflammation by inhibiting the activity of certain inflammatory molecules known as kinins. SPINK2 is primarily found in the skin and pancreas, where it helps maintain healthy skin barrier function and protect the pancreas from damage. Mutations in the SPINK2 gene can disrupt its function, leading to various skin and pancreatic disorders.
