RPL3L
Description
The RPL3L (ribosomal protein L3 like) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
RPL3L is a heart- and skeletal muscle-specific component of the ribosome. It plays a role in regulating muscle function by replacing the RPL3 paralog in the ribosome of striated muscle cells. This replacement is crucial for the assembly and proper function of the ribosome in these muscle cells. Additionally, RPL3L has been shown to inhibit myotube growth and muscle function, suggesting a potential regulatory role in muscle development.
RPL3L is also known as CMD2D.
