RAB33B

Description

The RAB33B (RAB33B, member RAS oncogene family) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

RAB33B is a human gene that encodes the Ras-related protein Rab-33B. Mutations in this gene have been linked to cases of Dyggve-Melchior-Clausen syndrome.

RAB33B plays a role in protein transport within cells, specifically regulating the movement of proteins back through the Golgi apparatus (intra-Golgi retrograde trafficking). It also participates in autophagy, a cellular process where damaged or unwanted components are broken down, by influencing the formation of autophagosomes.

RAB33B is also known as SMC2.
