PSMG2

Description

The PSMG2 (proteasome assembly chaperone 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.

PSMG2, along with its partner protein PSMG1, acts as a chaperone during the assembly of the 20S proteasome. This heterodimer interacts with the PSMA5 and PSMA7 subunits, guiding the assembly of the proteasome's alpha subunits into a ring structure. It also prevents premature dimerization of these alpha rings, ensuring proper proteasome formation.

PSMG2 is also known as CLAST3, HCCA3, HsT1707, MDS003, PAC2, PRAAS4, TNFSF5IP1.
