PRKACG

Description

The PRKACG (protein kinase cAMP-activated catalytic subunit gamma) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

The PRKACG gene encodes the gamma form of the catalytic subunit of cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA). PKA is a complex of two catalytic subunits and a regulatory subunit dimer. This gene is intronless and is thought to be a retrotransposon derived from the gene for the alpha form of the PKA catalytic subunit. PRKACG has been shown to interact with Ryanodine receptor 2.

PRKACG phosphorylates numerous substrates within the cytoplasm and nucleus.

PRKACG is also known as BDPLT19, KAPG, PKACg.
