PKDCC

Description

The PKDCC (protein kinase domain containing, cytoplasmic) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

PKDCC is a secreted tyrosine-protein kinase that phosphorylates extracellular proteins and endogenous proteins within the secretory pathway. This phosphorylation activity is crucial for proper tissue development during organogenesis. PKDCC has been shown to directly phosphorylate MMP1, MMP13, MMP14, MMP19, and ERP29. It is also involved in platelet function, being rapidly secreted from platelets upon stimulation of degranulation. PKDCC may possess serine/threonine protein kinase activity in addition to tyrosine kinase activity. It plays a role in longitudinal bone growth by regulating chondrocyte differentiation and may be indirectly involved in protein transport from the Golgi apparatus to the plasma membrane.

PKDCC is also known as RLSDF, SGK493, Vlk.
