PIK3R5

Description

The PIK3R5 (phosphoinositide-3-kinase regulatory subunit 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

Phosphoinositide 3-kinase regulatory subunit 5 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PIK3R5 gene.

PIK3R5 acts as a regulatory subunit within the PI3K gamma complex, facilitating the recruitment of the catalytic subunit to the plasma membrane. This process is achieved through interactions with beta-gamma G protein dimers. Moreover, PIK3R5 is crucial for the activation of PIK3CG by G proteins.

PIK3R5 is also known as F730038I15Rik, FOAP-2, P101-PI3K, p101.
