PIGH

Description

The PIGH (phosphatidylinositol glycan anchor biosynthesis class H) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

The PIGH gene encodes an endoplasmic reticulum-associated protein involved in glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor biosynthesis. The GPI anchor is a glycolipid found on many blood cells and serves to anchor proteins to the cell surface. PIGH is a subunit of the GPI N-acetylglucosaminyl (GlcNAc) transferase, which transfers GlcNAc to phosphatidylinositol (PI) on the cytoplasmic side of the endoplasmic reticulum. The PIGH gene is located on chromosome 14 and is adjacent to TMEM229B.

PIGH is also known as GPI-H.
