PGAP3
Description
The PGAP3 (post-GPI attachment to proteins phospholipase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
PGAP3 plays a crucial role in the lipid remodeling process of GPI-anchor maturation. This involves generating two saturated fatty chains at the sn-2 position of GPI-anchored proteins. PGAP3 is essential for the phospholipase A2 activity that removes an acyl-chain at the sn-2 position of GPI-anchors during this remodeling process.
PGAP3 is also known as AGLA546, CAB2, PERLD1, PP1498, hCOS16.
