PDE2A

Description

The PDE2A (phosphodiesterase 2A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

The PDE2A gene in humans encodes the enzyme cGMP-dependent 3',5'-cyclic phosphodiesterase.

PDE2A encodes a cGMP-activated cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase. It exhibits dual specificity for the second messengers cAMP and cGMP, key regulators of various physiological processes. PDE2A displays higher efficiency with cGMP compared to cAMP. It is implicated in cell growth and migration.

PDE2A is also known as CGS-PDE, IDDPADS, PDE2A1, PED2A4, cGSPDE.
