PCYT2
Description
The PCYT2 (phosphate cytidylyltransferase 2, ethanolamine) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
PCYT2 catalyzes the second step in the synthesis of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) from ethanolamine via the CDP-ethanolamine pathway, which is involved in the production of PE, a major phospholipid in cell membranes. PE plays a role in maintaining membrane structure, stabilizing membrane-bound proteins, and participating in cellular processes like cell division, cell fusion, blood coagulation, and apoptosis.
PCYT2 is also known as ET, SPG82.
