Description

PAX7, a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors, plays a pivotal role in muscle development and regeneration. It acts as a master regulator, controlling the proliferation and differentiation of satellite cells, the resident stem cells responsible for muscle repair. PAX7 expression is tightly regulated during development, ensuring proper muscle formation. In adulthood, PAX7 remains active in satellite cells, enabling them to respond to injury and regenerate damaged muscle fibers.
