PARS2

Description

The PARS2 (prolyl-tRNA synthetase 2, mitochondrial) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

PARS2 is a mitochondrial aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase that plays a crucial role in protein synthesis. Its primary function is to attach the amino acid proline (Pro) to its corresponding transfer RNA (tRNA), specifically tRNA(Pro). This process involves two steps: first, proline is activated by ATP to form Pro-AMP. Then, the activated proline is transferred to the acceptor end of tRNA(Pro).

PARS2 is also known as DEE75, EIEE75, MT-PRORS, proRS.
