NUP205

Description

The NUP205 (nucleoporin 205) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

NUP205 is a human gene that encodes the protein Nucleoporin 205. This protein is a component of the nuclear pore complex (NPC), which facilitates the transport of molecules between the cytoplasm and the nucleus. NUP205 is part of a subcomplex within the NPC and has been shown to be essential for proper viral gene expression.

NUP205 contributes to the assembly and maintenance of the nuclear pore complex (NPC). It anchors nucleoporins like NUP62, but not NUP153 or TPR, to the NPC. In collaboration with TMEM209, NUP205 might facilitate the nuclear transport of diverse nuclear proteins, including MYC.

NUP205 is also known as C7orf14, NPHS13.
