NOTCH1

The NOTCH1 gene encodes a cell-surface receptor protein called Notch1, a key player in a signaling pathway that regulates cell fate, differentiation, and proliferation during development and adulthood. Notch1 acts like a molecular switch, turning genes on or off depending on the signal it receives from neighboring cells.

Did you know

While Notch1 is crucial for proper development, recent research suggests that its activity might also be involved in some cancers. Increased Notch1 signaling has been observed in certain types of breast and blood cancers, suggesting a potential role in tumorigenesis.
