NLGN1

Description

The NLGN1 (neuroligin 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

Neuroligin-1 is a protein encoded by the NLGN1 gene in humans. It belongs to the neuroligin family of neuronal cell surface proteins. Neuroligin-1 acts as a specific ligand for β-neurexins, binding to them at splice sites. It is found in the postsynaptic compartment at excitatory synapses and is involved in the formation and remodeling of synapses in the central nervous system. Neuroligin-1 has been shown to interact with NRXN1 and DLG4.

NLGN1 is also known as NL1, NLG1.
