NCAPG2

Description

The NCAPG2 (non-SMC condensin II complex subunit G2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

The NCAPG2 gene encodes the protein condensin-2 complex subunit G2 (CAP-G2), also known as chromosome-associated protein G2 (CAP-G2) or leucine zipper protein 5 (LUZP5). CAP-G2 is part of the condensin II complex, which plays a crucial role in chromosome condensation during cell division. CAP-G2 interacts with PLK1 through its C-terminal region during mitosis. Mutations in the NCAPG2 gene are linked to severe neurodevelopmental problems, failure to thrive, eye abnormalities, and defects in the development of the urinary and reproductive systems, as well as limbs.

NCAPG2 is also known as 3KS, CAP-G2, CAPG2, LUZP5, MTB, hCAP-G2.
