NAA20

Description

The NAA20 (N-alpha-acetyltransferase 20, NatB catalytic subunit) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

NAA20 is a key component of the NatB complex, responsible for acetylation of specific N-terminal methionine residues on peptides. These peptides typically start with sequences like Met-Asp, Met-Glu, Met-Asn, or Met-Gln. This acetylation process plays a crucial role in regulating cell cycle functions, as proteins involved in cell division are frequently targeted by NatB. NAA20 also contributes to the structural integrity and functionality of actomyosin fibers, which are essential for proper cell movement.

NAA20 is also known as MRT73, NAT3, NAT3P, NAT5, NAT5P, dJ1002M8.1.
