MPIG6B

Description

The MPIG6B (megakaryocyte and platelet inhibitory receptor G6b) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

MPIG6B is an inhibitory receptor that plays a crucial role in regulating the differentiation of hematopoietic cells, the function of megakaryocytes, and the production of platelets. It prevents platelet aggregation and activation by substances like ADP and collagen-related peptide. This regulation is achieved by inhibiting the signaling pathways of CLEC1B and GP6:FcRgamma receptors through its two ITIM motifs. MPIG6B functions independently of calcium.

MPIG6B is also known as C6orf25, G6b, G6b-B, NG31, THAMY.
