MPI

Description

The MPI (mannose phosphate isomerase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

MPI or Mpi can refer to various things, but in the context of human genes, it refers to the gene encoding the enzyme Mannose-6-phosphate isomerase.

MPI (Mannose-6-phosphate isomerase) is an enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of fructose-6-phosphate (F6P) to mannose-6-phosphate (M6P). This reaction is essential for the supply of D-mannose derivatives required for various glycosylation reactions in eukaryotic cells. This function is supported by several studies, including those published in PubMed with IDs 8307007, 9525984, and 9585601.

MPI is also known as CDG1B, PMI, PMI1.
