MCIDAS

Description

The MCIDAS (multiciliate differentiation and DNA synthesis associated cell cycle protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

MCIDAS is a transcription regulator that plays a crucial role in multiciliate cell differentiation. It forms a multiprotein complex with E2F4 and E2F5, activating genes essential for centriole biogenesis and the deuterosome-mediated acentriolar pathway. Furthermore, MCIDAS contributes to mitotic cell cycle progression by promoting cell cycle exit. It also modulates the activity of GMNN by reducing its affinity for CDT1.

MCIDAS is also known as CILD42, IDAS, MCI, MCIN.
