LPIN2 : lipin 2

Description

The LPIN2 (lipin 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.

The LPIN2 gene provides instructions for making lipin-2, a protein vital for lipid metabolism. It's believed to help control inflammation, a normal immune response to injury or infection, by regulating the NLRP3 inflammasome. Inflammasomes are protein groups activated by injury or infection, triggering an inflammatory response. Lipin-2 also plays a role in bone remodeling, a continuous process where old bone is replaced by new bone, ensuring bone health.

LPIN2 is also known as CRMO1, MJDS.
