Description
The LMOD1 (leiomodin 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
LMOD1 is crucial for the appropriate contractility of visceral smooth muscle cells, which are responsible for involuntary muscle movements in internal organs. It achieves this by facilitating the assembly of actin filaments, which are essential components of the muscle cytoskeleton.
