LHB
Description
The LHB gene, encodes the beta subunit of human luteinizing hormone (LH). LH, a glycoprotein hormone, plays a vital role in human reproduction, particularly in the female reproductive system. It triggers ovulation, stimulates the production of testosterone in males, and is essential for the development of the corpus luteum, a temporary endocrine gland crucial for maintaining pregnancy. The LHB gene, along with its counterpart, the LH alpha subunit gene, controls the synthesis and secretion of LH.
