IL7

Description

The IL7 (interleukin 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

IL-7 or IL 7 can refer to: Interleukin-7, a protein, and the gene that encodes it.

IL-7 is a hematopoietic cytokine that plays a crucial role in the development, expansion, and survival of naive and memory T-cells and B-cells. This regulation of mature lymphocyte numbers maintains lymphoid homeostasis. IL-7 exerts its effects through a receptor complex composed of the IL7RA subunit and the common cytokine receptor gamma subunit (CSF2RG). Upon binding to the receptor, IL-7 activates various kinases, including JAK1 or JAK3, depending on the cell type. This initiates signaling through downstream pathways like PI3K/Akt/mTOR and JAK-STAT5.

IL7 is also known as IL-7.
