GTF2E2

Description

The GTF2E2 (general transcription factor IIE subunit 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

General transcription factor IIE subunit 2 (GTF2E2), also known as transcription initiation factor IIE subunit beta (TFIIE-beta), is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GTF2E2 gene.

GTF2E2, also known as TFIIE-beta, recruits TFIIH to the initiation complex and stimulates its RNA polymerase II C-terminal domain kinase and DNA-dependent ATPase activities. This interaction is crucial for promoter clearance by RNA polymerase, requiring both TFIIH and TFIIE.

GTF2E2 is also known as FE, TF2E2, TFIIE-B, TTD6.
