GINS1

Description

The GINS1 (GINS complex subunit 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

The GINS1 gene encodes a protein known as PSF1. This protein is part of the GINS protein complex, which is essential for DNA replication in eukaryotic cells.

The GINS1 gene encodes a protein that is crucial for the proper functioning of the GINS complex, which plays a vital role in initiating DNA replication and the progression of DNA replication forks. The GINS complex is an integral part of the CDC45-MCM-GINS (CMG) helicase, a molecular machine responsible for unwinding the DNA template during replication and serves as the foundation for the replisome.

GINS1 is also known as IMD55, PSF1.
