GAB1
Description
The GAB1 (GRB2 associated binding protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.
The GAB1 gene encodes a protein that belongs to the IRS1-like multisubstrate docking protein family. This protein is a key mediator in branching tubulogenesis and plays a central role in cellular growth response, transformation, and apoptosis. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
GAB1 is a crucial adapter protein that participates in intracellular signaling pathways activated by receptor-type kinases. It plays a vital role in FGFR1 signaling and is likely involved in signaling initiated by EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) and INSR (insulin receptor). It also has a significant role in the MET/HGF signaling pathway.
GAB1 is also known as DFNB26.
