FGF20

Description

The FGF20 (fibroblast growth factor 20) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

Fibroblast growth factor 20 is a protein encoded by the FGF20 gene in humans. It belongs to the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family, known for their diverse biological roles including embryonic development, cell growth, tissue repair, and tumor growth. FGF20 is specifically expressed in the brain, particularly the cerebellum. Its rat homolog has been shown to promote the survival of midbrain dopaminergic neurons in laboratory settings.

Neurotrophic factor that regulates central nervous development and function.

FGF20 is also known as FGF-20, RHDA2.
