F7 : coagulation factor VII

Description

The F7 gene provides instructions for making a protein called coagulation factor VII, a crucial component of the coagulation cascade. This cascade is a complex series of steps that stops bleeding by forming a blood clot. Factor VII activates other clotting factors, ultimately leading to the formation of a fibrin mesh that traps blood cells and seals the wound. Mutations in the F7 gene can disrupt this process, resulting in various bleeding disorders.
