CSF2RB (also known as cytokine receptor common subunit beta) is a common subunit to the following type I cytokine receptors: GM-CSF receptor, IL-3 receptor, and IL-5 receptor.
CSF2RB is a cell surface receptor that plays a crucial role in the immune response. It regulates the production and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells into specialized blood cells. CSF2RB forms heterodimers with various partners, including IL3RA, IL5RA, and CSF2RA, to create receptors for different cytokines. These receptors activate signaling pathways like those triggered by interleukin-3, interleukin-5, and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). CSF2RB constitutively interacts with JAK1, a kinase involved in signal transduction. Upon ligand binding, JAK1 is activated, initiating the JAK-STAT pathway. This pathway is essential for mediating the downstream effects of cytokines.
