Description
The CRLF1 (cytokine receptor like factor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
The CRLF1 gene produces the CRLF1 protein, which forms a complex with CLCF1 protein. This CRLF1/CLCF1 complex binds to the CNTFR receptor on cell surfaces, triggering signaling pathways that influence cell development and function. The CNTFR pathway is crucial for nerve cell development and maintenance, particularly motor neurons. It also plays a role in regulating sweating via the sympathetic nervous system. Beyond the nervous system, the CNTFR pathway may be involved in the inflammatory response and bone tissue development, although its role in these processes is not fully understood.
