CLPB : ClpB family mitochondrial disaggregase
Description
The CLPB gene encodes a protein known as ClpB, a molecular chaperone vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis. ClpB belongs to the Hsp100 family of heat shock proteins and functions in protein disaggregation, a crucial process for rescuing misfolded or aggregated proteins that can disrupt cellular processes. This protein works in concert with other chaperones like DnaK and DnaJ, forming a complex machinery that refolds misfolded proteins and removes damaged ones, thereby preventing cellular stress and dysfunction.
